Wags 'n Whiskers - Tag or Bookmark

Happy Friday everyone! We made it through the week and hopefully today will go by quickly. It's time for a new Wags 'n Whiskers challenge, and this week, it's from the awesomely talented Karen! She is asking for a tag or bookmark. I chose to make a hang tag for a gift bag with this adorable image of Danni called Snuzzle Love.

I stamped her, colored her with Copic markers, cut her out and then popped her up onto an oval cut with my Nestabilities. I LOVE this paper by Basic Grey June Bug collection that I got from Stamp and Create. I machine stitched around the outside of the circle, as well as in the inset. The large scalloped circles were cut with my Gypsy and Cricut with the Alphalicious cartridge. Added some pretty flowers and some amazing silk ribbon, and this was done.

Please be sure and visit the Wags 'n Whiskers challenge blog to see the fabulous creation from the rest of the Divas!! And we've got two new Guest Divas too! We'd love it if you'd join us in the challenge, but remember...if you want to win, you MUST use a Wags 'n Whiskers image in your submission! If you don't have any Wags 'n Whiskers images to use, just click HERE to go shopping!
Thanks so much for stopping by to see me today, and hope to see you back again soon! Hugs!!

Modern baby monograms

Last week, I received an email from a new mom wanting to give cookies to the doctors and nurses who helped bring her son into the world. ♥

She wanted cookies to coordinate with her sweet baby's birth announcement:

{The original isn't blurry like this.} :)

Cute right? Well, since I don't have one of those handy-dandy KopyKake projectors, nothing makes me more nervous that trying to match a cookie to an image.

{OK...going up a really steep and tall escalator makes me more nervous, but you get the point.}

Here's what we came up with....and new mommy was happy! Yay!

I love these colors and the simple designs...very hip and modern looking, I think.
{But what do I know?}

Making monograms is really pretty easy....
  1. Find a font on your computer,
  2. Type several letters into a Word document,
  3. Size the font to fit your cookie cutter (I view the document at 100% and hold my cookie cutter to the screen...this keeps from printing out lots of test pages),
  4. Print,
  5. Place the printed sheet under a sheet of wax paper on the back of a cookie sheet (I put this on a stack of books, so I don't have to stoop when piping),

  6. With royal icing, pipe the monograms,

  7. Let dry several hours,
  8. Peel off the wax paper,
  9. Place onto wet flood icing.

Monograms made with a larger tip are less likely to break. (I used a #3 round tip for these.) If you want a skinny monogram, try using candy melts. They seem to be less fragile.

These monograms can be made ahead and stored at room temperature.

Hello Kitty Cupcake Wraps with Cut File and Instructions

Have you been by Custom Crops this week?  They are having a sale, which started today AND, as they do every week, they released the designers' new projects last Monday.  I have new a Hello Kitty Cupcake Wrappers project, complete with the cut file and instructions.

The wrappers are much easier to make than you would imagine and they look adorable on the Wilton cupcake tower rack.  I also shared a great recipe for "from scratch" chocolate cupcakes.  And Kitty looks awesome holding pink frosted chocolate cupcakes!

Some Bunny Loves You - A new Papertake Weekly challenge

I know you're not goin to see this until Tuesday, but it's Monday now and the finale of The Bachelor is on in just an hour and a half! I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm wondering if he's going to end up not choosing either one. I don't know. Can't wait to see what happens! With it being Tuesday, that means it's time for a new Papertake Weekly challenge. This week, Dawny's challenge is Buttons, Bows, Brads, and Bling and we're being sponsored by Truly Scrumptious! I chose to use this absolutely adorable stamp from Wags 'n Whiskers called Some Bunny Loves You. Are they not the most precious set of bunnies?? I love them! They're colored with Copic markers. The sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe' in a set called Easter Sentiments. That lucious ribbon is silk and is available at Stamp and Create along with the Bow Easy.

I have to be honest and say that I really do not like the way this card turned out. I just could not get it balanced. I made the mistake of attaching the image and ribbon before anything else. And that was the end of me. I couldn't get anything else to look right with it. Oh well....such is life. I still LOVE the image. LOL!
Please be sure and pop over to Papertake Weekly and check out the rest of the awesome creation by the design team! Then we'd love it if you'd grab your paper and glue and join us in the challenge! You might get lucky and win a prize from Truly Scrumptious!
Thanks for stopping by to see me today, and hope to see you back again soon! Hugs!
Card recipe:
image - Some Bunny Loves You from Wags 'n Whiskers; sentiment from The Cutting Cafe'
ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Sketch markers
Tools: Bow Easy, Martha Stewart frond punch
misc: silk ribbon; buttons, brads and bling from my stash.

New Card for Kyle - and - Blog Candy Sign Up Continues

I have a new card to share which I made for the sailor son of "my friend Kathy".  I used a nautical tattoo stamp from Bombshell Stamps, which should go over well once it reaches the carrier.

I used the Stand and Salute cartridge to create the base card, the navy front piece, the stars and the Liberty cut.  Circle nesties sets were used to cut out the stamped image and red metallic scalloped layer.  The stamped image was colored with Copic markers.

If you have not already done so, be sure to leave a comment in the PREVIOUS post to be registered for my blog candy drawing.  I have nice blog candy this month - a $25.00 gift voucher from Custom Crops (thanks Custom Crops!!).

Just when I thought I was finished I realized that I forgot to add color to our Bombshell's hair.  Oh No!  Here she is with color added.
