Gluten-Free Pumpkin Muffins

These pumpkin muffins feature coconut flour and almond flour.

We found our favorite canned organic pumpkin back on the store shelves this week. So be prepared for pumpkin recipes. I, for one, Darling, can't get enough. Pumpkin is my favorite fall ingredient. Maybe because it cozies up to gluten-free flours so well. It adds moisture and depth to g-free baked goods. It flirts with cinnamon and ginger like the sexiest, inscrutable movie star. You know what I'm talking about. It's not overt. Or blatant. It's not over the top. It is subtle. Secure. Pumpkin doesn't demand to be admired.

Because it doesn't have to prove itself.

YuDu Fall Napkin Set

 

I had so much fun with my YuDu over the weekend - I created a set of fall themed dinner napkins.  I chose a design from the new Thanksgiving seasonal cartridge, which I modified slightly in Cricut Design Studio.  The pumpkin in the center is supposed to be solid, but by manipulating the top layer of pumpkin a bit smaller in CDS and placing the smaller pumpkin in the middle of the larger design I was able to create an outline effect. In the photo below you can see that I placed the base cut on the CDS mat and then using the "hide select contour feature" to removed the leaves and inside cuts, I placed the slightly reduced top pumpkin cut inside the background cut to create the outline. I chose this particular design because I wanted something that could be used for longer than Thanksgiving weekend or for Halloween.  So I went with a generic fall theme to expand the usefulness of the napkins.

I found these great pumpkin colored napkins at Tuesday Morning several weeks ago.  I thought they were perfect for fall. I actually set up two YuDu screens, but ended up not liking the effect.  I had planned to fill the pumpkins in with a second color, but instead I just went with a single color. The second color distracted from the simple elegance of the design.

I cut the pumpkin design in black vinyl and affixed it to the transparent overlay provided with the Yudu. After preparing the emulsion, I exposed the image onto the screen.  The Yudu is soooo easy to use; I am so glad that I took the plunge and added it to my Provo Craft line up!

I used gold paint on the pumpkins, but it looks a bit greenish in the photos.  I had planned to fill in the the pumpkins in an orange, but as I stated above it just did not look good.   I am excited to use my napkins, but I need to heat set the paint first.

Halloween Cookie Ideas . . .

If I were a good blogger, like say, Amanda from i am baker, I would already have new Halloween cookies ideas posted for you at the beginning of October.  (Check out her boo-tiful cake!)

You can see where this is going, right?  I'm a bad blogger.  Bad, bad blogger!  You'll see some new Halloween cookies, oh, around October 30th ;). {That is *hopefully* a joke.}

What a Gas!

Happy Monday!  This week's BBTB2 challenge is to use the pointing finger/hand from Graphically Speaking.  There were no special guidelines for using the challenge cut so I came up with my own plan.  Yesterday was my husband's birthday and I decided to incorporate the pointing finger into a "man humor" card.  I say man humor because truly I do not get the humor in the whole "pull my finger" thing.  Sigh...

I used three cartridges to create the is card, Graphically Speaking, Going Places, and George & Basic Shapes.  The card was created using Basic Grey and Bazzill cardstock along with Basic Gray tags, brads, and paper ribbon trim. 

I have mixed feelings about telling you that my husband loved his card.  He actually laughed out loud.  It is currently sitting in a place of honor on the mantle.  I half expected it to end up on his desk at work... And it still may. 

*** Update:  I just looked up at the mantle and guess what is no longer sitting there?  I do believe the card now has a spot of honor in his office!!

In addition to creating this card this weekend, I also completed next week's BBTB2 challenge project (which I cannot wait to share with you) and I used my YuDu and printed fall napkins.  I will share more on the YuDu project tomorrow - and yes, I actually used the cricut to create the YuDu project!!

Teaching my first Copic Card Class - What do you think?

Hi and happy Monday! I hope you enjoyed your weekend! We actually had a rainy and cloudy Sunday, and we loved it! LOL! We just don't get those, so when the rainy days happen, I truly enjoy them. I am so excited to be teaching my first Copic card class this week at my local scrapbook store called Scrapbook Paradise, and these are the two cards I've put together for them. I used Hero Arts stamps for both of them, and the stamps were all colored with Copic markers (of course).

With this being my first card class, I'm just nervous and hope everyone will enjoy it. I love dimension and color, and of course my silk ribbon. So I wanted to put as much of me into these cards as I could.

the Muslims just celebrated Ramadhan 1 Syawal 1431 H. 
I, celebrated the last week of Ramadhan and the Eid Al-Fitri at my home-country, Indonesia.
I brought along my Thai BF too to experience the joy.

short detail, - Ramadhan is the holiest of months in the Islamic calendar which happens during the lunar month of Ramadhan that precedes Eid Al-Fitr Lebaran, we as the Muslims feast and eat at night and Fast during the day from dawn to sunset.
and the Eid Al-Fitr is a three-day that marks the end of Ramadhan. 
at the eve of it, people in Indonesia usually do Takbir and playing with fireworks. 
and the next morning, mass prayers are held in mosques and large open areas around the country. 
traditionally, every family in Indonesia celebrated with the traditional dish called ketupat and visiting with family and friends. 
charity donations amal are traditionally given at this time. 
just prior to lebaran a mass exodus mudik from capital city of Jakarta of over 3 million people occurs as residents return to their villages to celebrate with family and friends. 
begging of forgiveness for any transgressions or slights in the past year is expressed during visits, Mohon Maaf Lahir dan Batin.

in Ramadhan, I decided to wear the headscarf or usually known as Hijab.
