Blog Hop, Blog Candy, and a Birdcage!

Happy Monday everyone!  If you are following the Bitten by the Bug2 blog hop you arrived here from Lori's blog - Welcome.  If you are one of my regulars popping by please do take a few minutes and visit all of blogs on the BBTB2 blog hop.  The Design Team members have created awesome projects to share.

The challenge cut this week is the birdcage or bird house from the Straight from the Nest cartridge.  I chose to use this simply lovely birdcage to create a unique wedding card!

I used three pieces of cardstock to cut the birdcage, a silver metallic for the top layer, a charcoal print for the middle layer, and a high glitter sparkle cardstock for the shadow layer.  Using scissors I removed the single bird from the cage and added my love bird couple.  I also added a little heart, a ribbon bow and a few gems to the cage.

Next I cut a gate fold card in soft pink cardstock.  I scored the folds with my scrorepal and affixed the birdcage to the left side of the card front.  Using the charcoal cardstock and the Picturesque cartridge, I cut for decorative corners for the front of the gate folds.

As you open the left side of the card the tag on the right side is revealed.  Using the same charcoal cardstock and a stamped image, I added a Mr. and Mrs. stamp to the middle of the tag.

The inside of the card was embellished with decorative corners which leaves lost of space to write a personalized message.

Before you head on your way, remember that I have blog candy!!!  Just leave a comment and you will be in the drawing for a $25 gift voucher from CUSTOM CROPS!!!  Who doesn't like to do a little free shopping?  I know I do!  I will draw a random winner on Thursday morning before I leave for the Circle Crop in Atlanta!

I hope you have enjoyed the blog hop. The final stop on the blog hop is at the blog of our beautiful and talented design team sister Krista.

My Saturday at Everyday Cricut

Hello scrappers, happy Saturday.   I love the third Saturday of the month because those AWESOME ladies at Everyday Cricut (woot, woot for Joy and Melanie!) allow me to contribute to their blog.  And this month's project for Everyday Cricut ties into my blog party 200K celebration:  I used the Halloween cuts from HOLIDAY CAKES!  I wanted to show those of you who might need some ideas that the cake cartridges are not just about fondant and gum paste cutting! Go over to Everyday Cricut to get more details and see more photos of the layout.  Also you can register for their weekly giveaways (hint, hint).

Remember that if you have not already registered for my blog candy give away, you still have time.   The drawing will be tomorrow (Sunday) after I return home from a scrapping weekend at the lake.  I love spending time with girlfriends!

To register to win you will need to do two things:  become a blog follower and drop down to the BLOG PARTY post and leave a comment telling me what you would plan as a first project using Holiday Cakes.

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day and BBTB2 Monday.  I hope that all of you have had a lovely long weekend.  We have had a nice relaxing weekend, I even managed to spend most of one full day in my scraproom.  It was very nice, I finished two BBTB2 challenges with The Sound of Music playing in the background!

This week's challenge cut at Bitten By the Bug 2 is a Reader's Choice where we had to use a number from the Mini Monograms cartridge.  I chose to use numbers as part of the face on my clock.  The clock is from the Picturesque cartridge.  I used the Amy Chomas mini pen holder and glitter pens to add the numbers to the clock face.  Amy's products are fabulous - in fact, I have added her button to my sidebar so that you can find her with ease.

The clock shadow cut used a super-heavy weight glitter cardstock.  I normally use the "multi cut" feature set for 2 cuts when cutting glitter cardstock.  This cardstock was soooo heavy it needed three multiple cuts to cut completely through.  The clock was affixed to burgundy Swiss dot cardstock. I used my favorite Stampin' Up border punch on the edges of the burgundy matting.

I used my printer to add a sentiment to the from of the card prior to cutting out the card.  I think this will be a wonderful anniversary card as the sentiment reads:  Every minute spent with you you makes me smile.

I finished the card by adding layered flowers with gem centers over the clock flourish. I used three different flowers, white, black, and black & white.  I also added a smaller flourish in the blank area.  The small flourish was cut using Cindy Loo.

Please do go over and check out the design team projects at BBTB2.  I seem to be one of the few who was not ready to embrace Halloween just yet.

A Day Late and A Dollar Short

So, about that title, it should read "A Month Late".   I seem to be perpetually behind lately.  As evidence, I am a month late making my St. Patrick's Day cards.  I suppose I could say that I am eleven months early, but honestly we all know better.  :-D

I used the Picturesque cartridge, along with Just Because Cards (my new Go To cartridge), and an assortment of fabulous green papers to create this Celtic Knot Card.  There are three layers of knot pieces, plus the oval frame and the frame center that I inserted between layers two and three of the knot as a background.

I kept embellies to a stark minimum; I did not want to distract from the knot cuts.  I did add white doodle dots and I found some fabulous Irish buttons I had been saving.  I removed the loop section from the back of a large button and used a large sticky dot to attach the shamrock to the card front.

Now that I have finally "Gotten my Irish on", a month late(!),I will tell you about my upcoming week.  I will have a new post EARLY Monday morning with the BBTB2 weekly challenge.  On Tuesday or Wednesday I should be able to share a cute project I created for Custom Crops - I am excited to share this cutie with you.  I will be back later in the week with a personal project as well as a new CUSTOM blog look that I have commissioned.  And that friends will take us into the following weekend and my first Saturday on Everyday Cricut.  I foresee a busy week....

And finally, one last thing, remember April 14th is the release of the Cricut Cake on HSN.  Have your charge card in hand at midnight!!!!   I will have an announcement later in the week regarding the Cricut Cake!! (Cryptic ending!!).
