Papertake Weekly - Sketch week!

First I want to apologize if I haven't been by to see you on your blog lately (or even emailed). I'm so busy spring cleaning, and on top of that, I'm trying to get ready for my grandson's visit in two weeks. I'm desperately trying to get June's DT assignments done before he gets here so I don't have to worry about them when he's here. I plan on spending lots of time getting cuddles and kisses. So please forgive my absence in the coming month. :)

Welcome to another challenge from Papertake Weekly! This week, it's a sketch challenge from the fabulous Dawny and we're being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. As soon as I saw this digi image, I knew I had to have it. It's from Digi Doodle Shop and it's called All Dressed Up. She's colored with Copic markers and I believe the papers are Melissa Frances. Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Ribbon and Spellbinders Fancy Tags are from Stamp and Create.

Please be sure and pop over to Papertake Weekly to see all the designers take on the sketch challenge, and then we'd love it if you'd grab your paper and glue and join us! You just might get lucky and win a fabulous prize from Simon Says Stamp!
Thanks for stopping by to see me todayand hope to see you back again soon! Hugs!

Las Vegas Paris Casino Layout

I spent Friday - Sunday at my friends Sally's and Beth's lake house enjoying a scrapping weekend get away.  "My Friend Kathy" (MFK) and I began working on our Las Vegas scrapbooks.  I managed to nearly complete 11 double page spreads (22 pages) as well as work on my BBTB2 project.  I thought it was a wonderfully productive weekend.

The first layout I am sharing is the Paris Casino.  I really liked the decor and of course the Eiffel Tower provided for fabulous evening photos of the strip. I conviced MFK to use the same cuts on her Paris page.

I used two cartridges to complete this layout, Destinations and Summer in Paris, both of which were delivered to my hotel in Vegas by Terri of TerriKrafts.  I cannot say enough kind words about Terri!!!  Who else provides Casino delivery service for free???

I used the shadow cut of Summer in Paris' Eiffel tower to create a layered back ground on the left page.  I cut the detailed tower for the right page.

I am just amazed at how many cuts I will be able to use from Destinations for this one trip.  Destinations turned out to be a great investment.

In case you do not know, I have blog candy going on our sister blog, Busy with the Cricky CakeSign up as a follower of the Cake blog and you will go into a drawing for a $25 gift voucher from Custom Crops.  Also if you have baked any of our May Cake of the Week recipes you are also elegible for a second $25 gift voucher.  Just leave a link or send an email about the COTW you baked.   The link to the cake blog is in the top left column.

I have a lot more scrapping yet to share!!!!

Vintage, So Much Nicer Than Old

Happy BBTB2 Monday.  I am going to open with an apology.  I have been busy for the last month with a special project and have been neglecting my blog(s) just a bit. My blogs and followers really are important to me so I promise to make improvements.

My first project for this week is a birthday card I made using Forever Young.  The challenge cut at BBTB2 is the dress form on FY.  I used the dress form and other FY elements to create a vintage birthday card.  I cut the cute swing dress, the fabulous hat, shoes and the VINTAGE label from FY.

I matted my cuts on four layers of cardstock, two solids and two prints, and embellished with pearls.  I cut the card and the matting layers with Just Because Cards.  I have told you how much I love JBC haven't I???

The inside of the card contains the phrase "So Much Nicer Than Old" and the phrase is mounted on two layers of matting.  I simply need to add a birthday greeting and the card will be ready to present to a special "Vintage" birthday girl.

Stamp and Create Product Spotlight - Shimmerz

Well, it's Monday again. :) Hope you enjoyed your weekend. It was soooo cold here this weekend. We got more snow, believe it or not. Finally today, the sun popped back out and it turned out to be a rather nice day. Still chilly, but nice. No wind or snow is a definite plus right now!

With it being Monday, that means it's time to reveal the product spotlight for Stamp and Create. For the next two weeks, Lacey has all her Shimmerz on sale! So be sure and grab up those colors you've been dying to try! Also, don't forget about the ribbon challenge that is going on all month at the store blog! Lacey is giving away a FABULOUS prize! And all you have to do to enter is use any stamps available at Stamp and Create along with some ribbon on your project! Easy Peasy!

Strawberry Picking

It all started with these darling Berry Baskets from Bake It Pretty.

Of course, I went there to buy food coloring and ended up with berry baskets and candy necklaces in my cart (I'm not sure how that happened).

The strawberry cookies are really simple. Just a basic outline and fill in AmeriColor Leaf Green and Super Red.

The white dots are dropped on while the red flood icing is still wet.
Here's a post on getting dotty. :)

I added in a few strawberry flowers, just piped on a small scalloped circle cookie.
{Is is just me or are bite-size cookies the hardest to resist eating?}

I told Mr E. (hubby) that I was sending him to his meetings with cookies. When he saw the cute little berry baskets lined up on the table, I could see the look of panic spread across his face. Not to worry, though, the berry baskets were for MY cookie deliveries....I sent him off with cookies in a much more masculine pink bakery box.

Amanda from Bake It Pretty mentioned to me that these baskets are not "grease resistant," so I lined each one with wax paper before filling with a little paper shred and cookies.

I want to see what you all have been baking this spring! Link up below.

Banana-Apricot Hemp Smoothie

Creamy banana apricot smoothie recipe that is dairy free and vegan
Frosty banana apricot smoothie with hemp milk.

It's been a week of bland soft foods. I've dubbed this week the No Pointy Foods Diet. Mashed potatoes. Creamy rice. Squash puree. No nuts, seeds, or chips. No crunch. No snap. No spices. Talk about not sexy. Suddenly, I'm the Goddess of Bland. Slurping tiny bites of baby food.

Lucky for me, bananas are doable. Especially if they're frozen and whipped into a frothy silky smoothie.
