Gluten-Free Turkey Soup Recipe

This gluten free and easy turkey soup recipe will cure all ills
An easy, homemade turkey soup simmered in a Crock Pot

A certain soup slurping and prickly individual (we won't name names, to protect the innocent) has been feeling under the weather for so long now the sensation is in danger of becoming a habit. Yes, the tree pollen onslaught continues. Blessed by a wet winter, Southern California trees are celebrating with copious amounts of pollen, and who can blame them?

Hence, your intrepid gluten-free goddess has been up to no good, stumbling and mumbling around her freshly painted apartment in a Snuffleupagus stupor, thick-nosed and unable to string two coherent sentences together, never mind invent a new recipe for her lovely and devoted readers (that would be, You). Ears and sinuses filled with unspeakable things do not a creative, exhuberant cook make.

This is when a Slow Cooker can save your life.

Pear & Buckwheat Pancakes and a (Gorgeous!) Cookbook GIVEAWAY!

I know I should be eating more whole grains. I know I should be eating a variety of whole grains.

The truth is, they intimidate me.  I stand in the specialty flour section, looking at the bags, then grab my bag of good ol' unbleached all-purpose, go home and make cookies.

Happily, I received this book:

Good to the Grain: Baking with Whole-Grain Flours by Kim Boyce. Kim (a former pastry chef at Spago and Campanile) has taken all of the mystery away from those exotic bags of flour in the grocery store.

The book is divided up by grain, such as:
  • whole-wheat flour
  • amaranth flour
  • barley flour
  • buckwheat flour
  • and 8 more...
If you melt like I do over a cookbook with beautiful food photos, be prepared to melt.  The pic of Cherry Hazelnut Muesli makes my heart pitter-pat every time I see it.

{I didn't know Muesli could do that.}

You can win one for your very own!!!  Just keep reading!

I made Pear and Buckwheat Pancakes; they were fluffy and delicious!  And, I felt so GOOD eating them...even with a side of bacon! ;)

Pear and Buckwheat Pancakes
{from Good to the Grain}

Dry Mix:
1 c. buckwheat flour
1 c. whole-grain pastry flour (I used unbleached, all-purpose; Kim says that's OK.)
3 TBSP sugar
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt

Wet Mix:
2 TBSP unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
1 & 1/4 c. whole milk
1 egg
2 medium ripe pears

Finish:
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
1/2 c. honey

Sift the dry ingredients into a large bowl.

Whisk the melted butter, milk and egg until thoroughly combined.

Peel the pears. Using the large holes of a box grater, grate the whole, peeled pears into the milk mixture.  The pear juice should fall into the milk along with the grated pears.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry and gently combine with a rubber spatula.

Meanwhile, melt the butter & honey together in a small saucepan and cook until boiling, emulsified and slightly thickened, 2 to 3 minutes.  Pour honey butter into a serving pitcher and keep warm.

Heat a cast iron pan or griddle over medium heat until water sizzles when splashed on the pan.  Rub the pan generously with butter.  Working quickly, dollop 1/4 cup mounds of batter onto the pan.

Once bubbles have begun to form, flip and cook until bottoms are golden brown.

Wipe the pan with a cloth before the next batch and rub the pan with butter again.

Serve the pancakes hot with the pitcher of honey butter.

I think this cookbook has opened a whole new world of possibilities in my baking.

{But, never fear, I'm not giving up my all-purpose!}

Now you can win a copy of Good to the Grain: Baking with Whole-Grain Flours!  A random entry will be chosen on Friday, March 12th at 10pm CST. Good luck!!!

Have you heard? A new Papertake Weekly challenge

Happy Tuesday! Monday is done and over with, and the week is marching on. It's time for a new challenge from Papertake Weekly, and this week it's a fabulous sketch from the uber talented Dawny! We're being sponsored by Dies to Die For. I skewed the sketch just a little with the text and the height of my images. I had SO MUCH fun making this card! I just love lots of dimension on a card, and I love making scenic cards. So you can imagine I enjoyed this one!

I used one of the new stamps from Magnolia-licious in a collection called Raising The Ceiling. She's #372 Love News Tilda. I don't think I've seen this cute little Tilda used at all, and I don't understand cause she's adorable! And she's perfect for any kind of "news" or "announcement" type of card. Along with her, I used one of the houses from #511 Edwin's Town. I ADORE this stamp and will use it many, many times! The houses can be cut apart and used individually, just like I did here. This adorable tree is also a Magnolia stamp, but Diana doesn't have it in stock right now. If you're interested, please just drop her an email. The stamps are all colored with Copic markers and then cut out. The house is popped up from the tree, and then Tilda is popped up even higher than the house. It didn't look right to have the house just sitting there, so I VERY CLUMSILY made a little rock walkway (close one eye and squint and you might be able to tell what I meant it to be!!) up to the doorway of the house.

I added a beautiful silk ribbon tied with my Bow Easy, and attached a cute little birdie charm to it. The papers are from a new line of Cosmo Cricket (I think it was from Garden Variety, but not sure as I used both pieces of each pattern from my pack). Cardstock is Bazzill and used lots of pop dots on this card! The sentiment is computer generated. Heres a shot that shows the dimension a little better.

Please pop over to Papertake Weekly to see the fabulous designs by the rest of the Design Team, and then grab your paper and glue and join in on the challenge! You just might get lucky and win a fabulous prize!

Thanks so much for stopping by to see me today, and hope to see you back again soon!! Hugs!

Thinking Of You

Happy Monday! Now that the Oscar's have all been awarded (and I did not see the catagory Best Scrap Page in a Film.... That's just wrong!!), it is time to get back to what is important ... Paper Crafting!   I love this week's BBTB2 challenge cut(s) from A Child’s Year. We had a choice of using either the boy with flower or girl with flower cuts. I chose the boy with flower because he is just so sweet looking.

With the exception of the two nesties cuts, this entire card was made using only A Child’s Year cartridge. I like that there are so many cartridges which contain such a variety of cuts that they can literally stand alone to create a project. A Child’s Year is definitely one of those cartridges.

I cut my base card in the awesome Alissa Twirls paper by Bo Bunny. I love this paper!! In fact, I love this paper so much I accidentally ordered it from two different companies. Oops. The good news is that gave me more of the paper to use. In addition to the base card, I cut two tags/mats in black and pink Bazzill cardstock and layered them under the challenge cut. I also cut two layers of the challenge cut – the boy with flower – one in black Bazzill and one in blue Bazzill. I added a Prima flower and a Melissa Frances pearl to complete the cut.

I used PowerPoint to design my “Thinking of You” tag. I then used my nesties to cut both layers of the tag.

Inside the card I added a white cardstock insert and a border of the Bo Bunny paper.

I finished my card off with a blue organza ribbon and three layers of blue bow with a Melissa Frances pearl center.

Some awards I've received

I'm so blessed. I truly am! I've made some of the most amazing friends through this fun and addictive craft. I have recently received several awards from some of the most amazing, creative, and talented people I know. I'm extremely appreiative of these awards. I'm soooo bad about posting them, and I really hope I've listed all that I have received. I will be honest though. I won't pass them on. Simply because I can't stand the thought of someone being sad about not getting an award for their blog. So here's the deal....if you're visiting me, you deserve these awards. You TRULY make me smile with your friendship, support, and kindness. And for that, I award you with both the Beautiful Blogger award and the Sunshine award.

I received the Beautiful Blogger award from the fabulous Susan! Susan was my Design Team sister for a long time over at Bitten By The Bug and she is sooo fabulously talented! I also received it from the lovely Ladybug Linda! Linda can sure work wonders with her Cricut! Thank you so much ladies! I so appreciate your kindness and you're truly such an ispiration to me!

I also received this beautiful Sunshine Award from the very talented Deboarah. I was very lucky to have met Deborah a couple years ago at a Cricut Swarm over in Sacramento. We had so much fun, and I made friendships that will last a lifetime! Thanks so much for thinking of me, Deborah! I also received it from my long time friend, Nikki! Nikki and I were design team sisters for a long time for Bitten By The Bug! She's amazingly talented and has always been an inspiration. Nikki even has her name and cards mentioned on the Cricut Expression Infomercial. Yep! When you hear the name Nikki Duey....that's my friend!!! I also received it from my wonderful friend, Margie. I "met" Margie ages ago over on the Cricut message board. This chickie is talented and works wonders with her Cricut and Cuttlebug! She's such a sweetheart and I truly love her work!
Ok, for the Beautiful Blogger award, I'm supposed to reveal seven facts about myself. Oh sheesh...ok...here we go:
1. I love to crochet. I'm trying to get back into now. I don't have any time to spare at home with my crafting, so I've starting playing with at lunch when I'm at work.
2. I am such a MESSY scrapper! It drives me crazy, but I just can't stop creating during a project to put anything away. So usually by the time I'm done with a card, I'm working in a little 12" space.
3. I love making cards and sharing them with friends and family, but I have the most terrible time getting them in the mail on time. What is up with that????? I don't understand it. For the life of me, I don't understand it! My cards are ALWAYS late!
4. I am a family girl, and I hate that I have family that lives thousands of miles away. It breaks my heart every day.
5. I cry at the drop of a hat and wear my heart on my sleeve.
6. I truly love to make people laugh, and have a pretty good sense of humor.
7. I LOVE to eat popcorn and M&M's together. LOL! Salt and chocolate. YUM!
That's it! Thanks again to all of you, and please....take the awards. You deserve it for making my day by stopping off to visit me. Thanks for popping by to see me today and hope to see you back again soon! Hugs!

REVIEW: Thai Natural Chocolate-Coffee Body Scrub ♥

.
when I was travelling to Pattaya, Thailand & was looking around in this floating market,
I stumbled upon this one natural store.
they sell many different brands for natural body treatment.
soaps, lotions, scrubs, spa tools, face wash, etc. almost everything.
I picked up quite many things because I was interested in their 'ingredients'.
milk, honey, chocolates, coffee. thai herbs, etc. sounds so yummy! :)

one of the natural stuff that I reaally really like is the..
PHUTAWAN Chocolate Coffee Exotic Sugar Body Scrub.
yummy name huh? hahaa.
it claimes to be made 98% from natural (for Normal to Dry Skin).
I picked this type because obviously I have a dry skin stype.
On the cover it says..

Phutawan
Chocolate Coffee Exotic Sugar Body Scrub
A delightful treatment with a gentle blend of Sugar granules, Vitamin A & E, enhanced with Coffee, toslough away dry dead skin leaving it smoother, softer, and silkier. Anti-oxidant Coffe helps toreduce fatty deposits, tones, and silkens, perking up dry, tired skin to provide a conditioning exfoliate.
Directon: scoop into palm of hand and rub onto damp skin. Gently massage and rinse throughly.
175 g. or 6.17 Oz

so if you ask, why chocolate & coffee? there you have the answer.

I had them forever but I have just tried them recently. Now, I have been using them for about a month.
It really does gives me a smoother skin. but the thing that i like the most about this products is their smell!
they smell like chocolate with a bit of coffee! it's so lovely.
even my BF compliments my chocolate smells. (what a way to get more kisses huh?) hahaa.

here are some pictures..

(another natural stuff that I got~ Milk & Honey Soap)

I really like them & so far it works good for me.
I might gonna add this scrub in my upcoming giveaway. would you guys like it, though?
because this is something that you can't really find outside of Thailand & I'd like you guys to try them too.

well, I was thinking of arranging a giveaway since I already have over a hundred of followers.
but I haven't have the time to go shopping much lately. been sooo busy with uni's life that I'm stuck doing it. hee.
but I'll try to arrange them maybe in the mid of this year because I'm going to BANGKOK for holiday!
my plan is to do a little shopping in Bangkok to giveaway for my followers. :)
hope it'll be possible though. :)

love.love ♥♥

Well...yep....you've KINDA seen this one before!

Hi everyone! Hope you're enjoying your weekend. I'm not ready to go back to work tomorrow. I still have so much crafting I have to get done. My amazing sister asked me forever ago to make her one of these easel cards in pink for her grandaughter, Jordan. She said "no hurry". Well she probably learned her lesson on telling me that one! LOL! It's only taken me about six months to get it done for her. UGH! Anyway, so yes, if you were visiting me six months ago, you saw almost the same card that I did in blue for our Magnolia-licious Design Team challenge.

This cute Tilda is #388 Dinner Tilda from Magnolia-licious. And guess what! Yep... She' s out of stock. This is really starting to be ridiculous. Diana has TONS of stamps in stock, yet I always manage to pick one that isn't. I'm so sorry! It does say it's on order, though. So hopefully she'll be back in stock soon! She's colored with Copic markers, cut out, and popped up for dimension. I also used my Gypsy, Cricut Expression, and George cartridge to make all the stars, and the Sweethearts cartridge for the flourishes which I got from Hallmark Scrapbook. The papers are all digi, and it apprears the stickles affected them a bit. What is it with Stickles? I'm finding they make several different types of ink run. UGH!

I used a Martha Stewart border punch to help create the "stop" for the easel card, and added a pretty silk bow along with a star charm, all available at Stamp and Create. It's finally on it's way to you, Peggy. I hope Jordan likes it! Love you bunches!!
That's it for today! Thanks so much for stopping by to see me today and hope to see you back again soon!
